My buddy Mike stopped by over the holidays to enjoy some of the cookies and beer. He was eyeing the kitchen gadgets that I have and exclaimed,
“Wendee! I can’t believe you haven’t added eyes to this!”
Really, huh?
It’s a silicone mini hot mitt. Being silicone, I figured if I painted eyes on it, the paint would just peel off. We all know that I have enough trouble separating the food and paint in my kitchen as it is. I thought about adding grommets as eyes, but, gee, never got around to it (see ‘a Round TUIT’).
As it was, I’d started out with one of the full-arm orca silicone oven mittens, and it just wasn’t cutting it.
Anyway, fast-forward a month. I was at a cooking gadget store last night, enjoying myself quite a bit (imagine that), and then I spied this!
And laughed, out loud!
“Ha!”
And of course, this adorable critter followed me home. Can I keep him?
He's not only helpful:
but he's such good, expressive company, too!
[sigh] Puppy love.

Love it! ... just love it!
Were there any more in the litter?

Absolutely. And green frogs, too, if you're allergic to dog dander. :)
He's awesome -- like your own personal muppet who's also helpful in the kitchen.
Sometimes.... you just SCARE me!!

Welp, just goes to show you, no matter how original an idea may seem, someone has already thought of it, designed it, patented it, produced it for mass consumption, and spun around and whipped you in the a$$ for even thinking about it.
So, on to the next totally original and novel idea:
SILENT VELCRO
P.S. -- Wha? Garden State?
Aw crap !!!!
--Mike
Oh Joe. Some people find my sense of humor very endearing; apparently some find it scary. Just separating the wheat from the chaff... >;)
Hmmm... If velcro is peeled appart in space, does it still make a sound? Hmmm... Or if it is magically peeled appart in the middle of the forrest and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound? ...

Too Cool!
Maybe your new oven mitt could make friends with one of those Ikea dog rear-end hooks. (I'd post a picture but I don't know how...go to the Ikea website and search under "Bastis".)
Lisa
This link should take you to the Ikea product.
